That I'm not sure, perhaps he thought Sejin wouldn't do it without him. I kinda see the logic after everything Sejin went through during his first life. All Ido wants is Sejin's independence and he plans to completely separate himself from Sejin once that is achieved. Yeah, Sejin does get hurt in the process. But Ido believes (and it's true in the way) that this is the only way Sejin would stop being so dependent on others.
