I just find it stupid to even argue about who should be bottom or top in any medium (ESPECIALLY when this talk comes to real people). Like why should someone even care actually? Let shounen ai be shounen ai and if you want to see someone to be clearly top/bottom, read smut.

I also see this problem in lost in the cloud fandom as well constantly saying Skyler is the bottom and Cirrus is the is top when the author has explicitly said that there will not be smut and no bottom/top like why can’t we just simply enjoy to people falling in love instead of labeling them or obsessing over who is the bottom or top like does it really matter?

I was re reading sasaki & miyano and seeing all the talk abt top & bottom pissed me off sm.
So if you haven't read/watch it, miyano is a fudanshi and sasaki likes miyano so he takes an interest in BL to have smth to get closer to miyano. At some point in the story theyre sitting on a classroom and sasaki makes like a very BL move on him (like he fr said he did it bc he saw it on a BL), to what miyano replies to "not treat him like an UKE". Way after this there are instances where miyano thinks abt him as a SEME and how off it feels too
however the fandom ran w the previous scene to say Sasaki is a bottom and you can tell now by how he looks(???) when he's an adult
What pissed me off is how despise this story being shonen ai and Miyano being a fudanshi that's very much familiar with the stereotypes of uke and seme in BLs, which is a direct point that influences what he said in that scene where he literally just states he wants to be treated as himself and not like one of those BL characters, people just keep on adding to the stereotype with their bullshit ideas of sasaki "starting to look like a bottom" even tho the whole point of those scenes was to break that idea and that they were just themselves
Like idfk I used to love reading shonen ai stories bc they wasn't necessarily a top&bottom just two people in loved w eachother but when people start to speculate like this specifically in a story that constantly shows the difference between all those bl stories vs their relationship just irks me
