Wen Xi is innocent. The one Yazi has a grudge against was Chancellor Wen, Wen Xi's grandfather. Yazi framed the Wens as traitors and caused their entire family to be executed. Wen Xi was not cursed. The red symbols are from the demon bone Taotie implanted in Wen Xi to protect him. Whenever he's emotionally unstable or in danger, the demon bone will activate.
Finished the whole story but still a bit lost.
