I think the story would've been better if there was some fluff to balance things out and not make it look like he's just constantly using her to pass his time. Like when the mother talked about marriage, they could've showed an internal monologue where he played that day instead of still keeping that incognito like "Yeah, it will happen, but I'm not going to tell it not even to the public." I do get dark romance, but this is just her catching feelings, him being a horny brick that you don't actually know what he's thinking. At least the smut is good when both actually consent and follow boundaries, but it happens every blue moon apparently. I do get that some people do say that it's good for pregnancies, but he still did it when the pregnancy wasn't safe.
