Yeah, the mc originally wanted to purchase some female slaves as maids remembering a manga he read in his first life, but there were none available so he purchased 2 families. The way slavery works in that book is whenever someone is in debt and they cannot pay it off the government makes them become a contractor to whoever wants work. They can still create their own terms on the contract but they’ll probably try to compromise because they wanna be free. Also this institution doesn’t exactly revolve around abuse but… (¬_¬ )
My glaring issue with it is that totally innocent children will get enslaved along with their parents. Like, the worst way I can see this is their parent could be a deadbeat gambler getting the family into insurmountable debt and the kids get enslaved because their crime was to be made from some dumbass parent. And this really isn’t a totally random hypothetical I thought up because there was a character who got put into slavery because they were a drunkard who didn’t want to pay their debts. Also usually the family is split up when they are sold so “the mc is kind enough to purchase the families as a whole!”…. (¬_¬ )
Anyway that manga was one of my favorites among my years but I felt like I had to drop it because he supported such an institution :/

Oh, I don't think we're talking about the same manga here? The one I'm thinking of is that one, campfire cooking in another world with my absurb skill, with that Fenrir, cute slime, and small dragon. I don't recall there being slavery there, unless it was specified in the novel in the later chapters (which I didn't read yet).
Is this South Korea’s watered down version of “Tondemo Skill de Isekai Hourou Meshi” but only without slavery?
