i honestly don't like all the haruki slander in here.I'm probably biased(I'm a haruki-apologist through and through.).While I understand he made many stupid decision,he still didn't deserve to be hurt.I mean what are the odds of literally 5 psychopaths going for 1 target??? 6 if you count shirayuki.He just crave genuine companionship,and when you're starved of something so long/when you need it the most,you started to not see reasons/common sense.He have been bullied for all the time he spent in that school,no one would associate themselves with him because they're afraid of also being a target of the bullies.He is probably so lonely all that time.Honestly i'm just sad for him. Although i will say,the whole he's stupid for not believing shirayuki and his sister about this guy is totally right.Okay shirayuki is a suspicious guy(haruki have an inkling that shirayuki is the one making his torturers— bullies disappear) but your SISTER who you LOVE???,that is plain stupid(probably just a plot devise to move the story.)
