Disgusting

Ugh... I was expecting cute

He was told his bride was a harlot he had to marry for political reasons but the fact that he had the doctor check her virginity when the doctor arrived to check why she had collapsed after breakfast is pretty fuggin disgusting. Was she awake for the "check"?? Did she consent? Why TF was that a priority for him at all if the marriage was a temporary farce?

"She collapsed at breakfast! Call a doctor and check that virginity!"

I see everyone else in the comments thinks this is great. Did y'all just skip what this sentence meant in the first chapter?

Bleh. Definitely not cute and definitely not green flag.

Sexual assault isn't character development for me

I don't think he asked the doctor to check her virginity. Since she is female, the doctor likely examined her to rule out the possibility of being pregnant and found obvious signs she was untouched. If the patient is unconscious, there is consent implied to find the root of the problem, which includes checking all body systems.

If she had been conscious, he would have asked her when her last period was and other such questions; he did the physical part of that since she wasn't able to be aroused from fainting. If you you are unconscious for a long time when you didn't intend to sleep, it usually denotes a more serious issue.

OP, you're definitely overthinking it. Like Sasifras said, it's quite normal pratice for doctors to check the whole body for reasons of illness. Especially so since women's health is understudied, and the cause and effects of a coma is innumerable. She wasn't awake to be questioned, so they simply had to examine all sorts of criteria. Legitimately the first thing many health practitioners will ask you in a clinical setting is "are you pregnant or breast feeding".

You have to shove your hand up her vagina to check the hymen. That's not a medical examination that's specifically for a virginity check. You're the one rationalizing it. Maybe the author/writer was just ignorant about how it happens. But I know how it happens, and I'm a medical student to be a physician, and there was no way that shoving his hand up her vagina was part of a regular medical examination. The author shouldn't have included it, it's disgusting and misogynist of the highest order.

I am also a medical student. You have not gotten far in your education. If she has fainted and cannot be aroused, the doctor is going to rule everything out that he can as soon as possible so she doesn't die from something that was overlooked. He can't ask her what her diet was like prior. He can't ask her if she had a headache or any other pains in the kast twenty-four hours, There isn't anyone there who can inform him of her menstruation and she cannot answer him so to rule out if the cause is being pregnant, he must do an examination; the pelvis easily could have been the last thing he did. Once things are ruled out, what remains must requal a probable diagnosis.

She was malnourished, which flags for a whole range of conditions, including the first trimester of pregnancy. If she started to wake up during the examination process, the doctor would stop, check her cognition, and if sound, proceed to ask her questions instead. Consent is required when conscious and implied for medical care if unconscious unless there are orders, such as in the case of a DNR.

You claim misogyny but you operate on the assumption that it was asked of the doctor. We have no proof he asked for it. Wait until you get into documentation, where they cover malpractice; this will shed more light on the situation for you. But regardless, if this colors how you think of this story, then it is as simple as no longer reading it.

Okay you assume the author doesn’t know how checking the hymen actually works, so you can’t call the story disgusting if the writer didn’t know about the full scopes of checking for that. That means that wasn’t what they had in mind while writing. Even so, if that throws you off, just don’t read it.

The doctor could also be checking for stds or something too, in case that was the reason for her bad health, and just happened to find out that she still had her hymen intact and informed the ml.

The ml in this story is a green flag who supports and protects the mc, that’s why a lot of people like the story. If you dropped it because of your own preconceived notions, that’s your choice.

We both know that's not what happened here. I don't do vaginal exams on unconscious patients because they can't consent.

I won't read it. I stopped immediately. Because that doctor sexually assaulted her and I was specifically told that this was a cute story. I was warning other people that this is not a cute story because it literally begins with the ML verbally abusing her followed by asking a doctor to shove his hand up her vagina to confirm her virginity because he believes her to be a lying slut rather than the malnourished child she obviously is. People deserve to be warned about it.

Lol as someone who’s actually read it, lol no? It IS a cute story

Also, rather than checking for her virginity, the doctor could’ve also been checking for stds or something in case that’s why she was so unhealthy.(cause a lot of stds break down the body) You’re taking this way too fucking seriously atp since it was mentioned like one time

Also considering that the ml didn’t know the circumstances with the mc, it makes sense he didn’t treat her too well. However, as soon as he does, he dotes and loves her wholeheartedly. Which you would’ve known had you actually read the story. You can’t say it isn’t a cute story when you haven’t even read more than a chapter of it.

Also HE DIDNT ASK A DOCTOR TO CHECK HER VIRGINITY. He asked a doctor to do a checkup on her because she fucking fainted. The doctor probably noticed her intact hymen during the checkup process and informed the ml. The ml didn’t fucking ask him to check, the fuck???

Just cause you’re a medical student doesnt mean you know everything about this like wtf. Also, this is set in a fantasy setting in not modern times so the examination process was probably different. (And again, they might’ve been seeing if she contracted a std considering her reputation.) You lowkey sound like the people who call/diagnose people mentally ill because they took a few courses in psychology.

God that was all in Ch 1, you literally couldn't get past 1 chapter before judging it? ML quickly realized he made a preconceived mistake and owned up to it. He also didn't ask the doctor to do any of the sort like you're making him out to be.

You're assuming all sorts of underhanded things based on 1 very offhanded one-liner thought bubble about them finding out she's a virgin buy chance...of which we weren't given any sort of detail as to how that led up to. We don't even know the gender of the doctor. Most likely no one had nefarious intentions, calling it sexual assault is an overreach.

The story IS so fucking cute. It's literally the cutest and most wholesome thing to have come out in recent times, and if you wanna be salty and spread misinformation, just do that alone.

    natpat March 6, 2025 1:10 am

people like yall are so sensitive and annoying literally the most wholesome story and you'll get your panties in a twist screaming assault about a minor detail gtfo. this is worse than people who cry about someone pecking their love interest while they're sleeping in a fictional story lmfao

    natpat March 6, 2025 1:21 am

also this is a story clearly set in historical europe. they didn't have girlboss feminism back then. they had arranged marriages etc, the fl doesnt have the same duties as the ml nor is she expected to. it always gets me when people complain about lighthearted historical stories by an author from japan not being the most progressive lmfao. and he didn't specifically ask the doctor to check for that? you're obviously finding smth to get mad about. stop embarrassing yourself...

Man, this comment and the next ones just tell us that you didn't enjoy it and look at this from really weird point of view. Let's agree you don't like it, you don't need to make everything "evil and bad" if you don't like it
