I actually wanted to ignore this whole thing cause it's annoying but here comes a really long reply I guess
1.a) Official tl at it's finest means employing professional tlers, and I'm being very truthful when I say it has zilch to do with a person's first language, as they actually have a diploma or at minimum a certificate at the given language/s
b) Sadly it's been years since the USA has been ignoring quality over profit in the field of translation, and many publishers actually use mtl and just pay people to edit it, because this way they can pay less for professional translators, while giving them insane deadlines, who then have to pull water out of a dry well in order to get some quality out of that mess, but that still doesn't mean the editors/translators are not people proficient in the language they are payed to write in
c) I have heard that more recently, even that has been omitted by some in favor of even cheaper AI tl and this completely erases human involvement
2. Not really a human mistake, considering that hurted is a very much used term online, and mtl has been using frequently used phrases for a while now, it doesn't actually have to be grammatically correct if it comes from mtl, or from AI, and I'd say people who use online tl services already know this, on a side note autocorrect has also been switched over to frequently used phrases on many platforms so if anyone is super reliant on this in their ggl docs or even in word, yeah don't trust that

Well, yes, official translators will ofc be proficient in whatever language they have been paid to translate for... but even tho I'm not sure why this is being brought up, this isn't an officially translated release. The third volume of this manga has yet to be released in English (comes out tomorrow, in fact), and the fan translator themselves leaves a message every now and then, so. Idk what to tell ya. I fear what AI is doing to our culture just as much as the next person, but I've genuinely never been given any reason to think this was ever a MTL. I know AI messes up "purposefully" at times, so my point about being grammatically correct was an overstatement, but it was mostly on the idea that there would be more signs were this an AI MTL; we haven't reached the point of having high grade AI at our disposal for pirated, ilegal translations, so as it stands it is incredibly more likely for this to be an honest mistake than for it to be machine garbage.
Not only are fan TLs at times made by non-native English speakers in varying degrees of proficiency, but poor verb inflection is something even native/fluent speakers can be prone to sometimes.
hurted.....HURTED??? ok so this official is def being AI tled with no human involvement huh
