Well Korea is a conservative country. Even though there's representation of same sex relationship on Netflix, there aren't likely to be any in the mainstream media. Same sex relationship are frowned upon and the misogyny culture is still very much there. It's also kinda hard for them to publicize same sex relationship.
Parents should really learn how to be careful when talking about these things, so what would you do if your son came home with a guy? It's not like you still can't wish him to be happy. His happiness is everything so it shouldn't matter if it is with a girl or another guy.
