These families to gain powers they all had to have some type of curse, I think for the tryde (?) family the curse is the head of the family would desire someone that looks like the king's regas or like desiring the king's regas himself but it's to the point of obsession and madness so that's why before they didn't take Abel seriously because he's always been obsessed with green eyed blonde twinks and because of the curse the king's regas should have looked like that
