I think they were pretty hyped at the beginning of the new season but the stress with the chapters prob got them. Or maybe since some other works are also starting their new season, maybe the hype overshadowed the ending of LITC

Nope if you can make something your whole personality for more than a month. You need to seek professional help. (whole personality not just keeping it on your self of favs and pulling it out when someone ask for rec or you feel nostalgic) . 1 month is fairly normal beyond that meh just coping obsession.

I've never been a total fan, but I was following the story. I think the ending really sucked considering the amount of drama the mcs went through, I feel like it needed more to end it properly but I can't pinpoint what it needed.

No I agree with you it's better to be very into something and obsessed with it rather than mindlessly consume any media for the rest of your life, many people have hobbies that consume their life and that's okay, but if it's literally the only thing they talk about then that's a different story.
Best feeling ever, it literally makes the world rainbows and butterflies because you have an escape to always seek no matter what you go through, but when you lose interest in it eventually it sucks a lot :(
