I’m regretting my wording just a littleeeee bit, it’s a bit strong, so I don’t think it’s *necessary* but I do think that it builds upon the narrative in a not too unrealistic way, and also helps build and understand Brett’s character a lot more in the upcoming chapters. I feel like it explains a lot about Brett’s psyche and his nature. Spoiler warning past this point.
I don’t think it’s unreasonable for a rich pompous senator to hire people to do unspeakable things in order to get what they want, especially American politicians . We also know that Nathan’s father has known Brett since he was a child, we can infer that he naturally knows some part about Brett’s nature, at least the one he shows; that being condescending and arrogant, seemingly looking like he’s above everyone else (as said by Alexander and why he tried shooting Brett in the first place). What would be the worst thing you can do to a pompous arrogant alpha? Rape them of course. He wants Brett to back off of the trial, so that Alexander could get retribution for killing his son, with Brett out of the way, as he’s going to testify for Alexander, it would make that process easier.
Ofc he doesn’t know actual Brett’s true nature, and we can see it more clearly *because* of what happens to him. He’s calculating and would go through anything to get to his end result (ie literally the beginning 6 chapters that establish how he manipulated to get Hayden). He compartmentalizes what he goes through from the actual trauma that he went through to his more logical nature, dissociating by memorizing his assaulters characteristics. He ignores everything that happens to him and refuses to acknowledge his emotional side, which then comes to a head at the season finale. It brings out his extremes bc it’s the only way he knows how. We also see what he doesn’t even realize, that he is somewhat affected by the things he does, and it helps build his future character development to realize more about his emotions.
I guess tldr, this manhwa has always been built on themes of dominance and the complexities of Brett as a character, and while there could have been other ways to show Brett’s character, thw utilization of the gang rape is not one out of fetish but necessity of showing off Brett’s character. And ITS NOT EVEN SHOWN and we KNOW the author could have because it’s literally the first ever scene we see Brett and Hayden fuck and we see it in the first sex scene (Hayden’s rut) of season two!! The author has tact abt what happens to Brett. He gets a rape kit for crying out loud. I understand it’s a trend (one that I also hate) but this is not an instance of careless use.
Sorry for the long rant, it’s just frustrating seeing this manhwa get slandered

And that’s totally fair, when the raws came out for this I was devestated my poor baby Brett doesn’t deserve any one bit of what he goes through, I need him to get his act together and to
Let himself be loved his logical tendencies are kicking him in the ass, let yourself be hurt for the sake of being hurt!! I also need to see his assaulters die idc. I’m just being defensive since so many ppl are just assuming the author is adding it for the sake of adding it when it’s so much more

Your response is immaculate and to finally do some legitimate theories is refreshing and I have to say great minds think alike. I can’t wait for the next season to see how Hayden deals with this because I know Brett is going to have breakdown and how bad it will be we shall see! But that breakdown I feel like is going lead an amazing recovery for Brett because he seriously needs he been through so much. Even in his childhood how his father groomed him smh beyond terrible. Kudos to you !

yes, i feel this author is one of the fews who don't do it for shock value or romanticize like most and don't underestimate how sa affects.
We can see the sa ripple in the story, Hayden is absolute a mess after knowing what happened to Brett and Brett reported, took a rape kit and how he wants justice by winning the court ... this sa wasn't put in the story just to be dealt half assed.
But ofc i wish the author hadn't go the sa route to move the story but it it was their decision and i know they aren't writing it without any consideration or tact.

Thank you!! I feel like I’m going crazy saying that this gang rape scene is “necessary” bc it’s goddamn gang rape, I HATE this shit as much as any other sane person, but I feel like with a work like this, you can’t just judge it off face value when the literal basis of the manhwa HAS been like this, there’s ALWAYS been rape so I can’t understand why people are so shocked espc when they’ve gotten this far, and I feel like ppl are not analyzing it deeper than what is given, which is doing a disservice to the manhwa but I’m SOOOO excited for the next season, I just hope it doesn’t take 7 months again. Brett’s realization and breakdown is going to be sooo satisfying

That’s why I love the author, she has tact, idk why that’s so hard to find in bl authors these days tbh tho I don’t know what other direction the author could have gone that wouldn’t be sa, at least to the conclusion we got in season 2 finale. But I digress, while sa is done and tired in bls it really is nice seeing it done well, it’s so rare

Oh this is so real I’m sick and tired of it too. The manhwa, Arthur, disappointed me a lot when they included one of those scenes when it was going so well, so unnecessary. I’ve just come to appreciate tact like this *because* I’ve read sm gang rape that seeing it be handled with actual care makes me very appreciative.

Yea kinda weird how people aren’t good with this, when the story literally start with SA.. like why are we surprised? Was it fine before cause it's the MC? Cause then the double standard is fuced up. Why are we surprised like this is some wholesome story?? It's not a sudden thing if it had been a themed from the start.
I know it’s sad for what’s coming up, but I promise it’s not explicit at all and very most implied. I swear guys it’s not added for unnecessary sakes it has plot purpose I swear. Also to everyone complaining abt it, have we forgotten how this story started?? Yeah they’ve been cute and mostly communicative but this manhwa has always been built off of sexual assault, I assure you that this scene is necessary and is handled with tact and care, ntm on the author now
