Unless you were born yesterday you would know it’s been used as a derogatory term to equate effeminate behavior as a negative attribute and in particular its association with demonizing homosexuality as a character flaw. Along with the F****t and until recent queer, they were used as standins to reference gay and bisexual men. This is why it’s so infuriating when people say they can’t be homophobic by reading BL, but proceed to say shit like this. because they’re basically being called homophobic for using a word that was taken out of context. most people do not know of it’s historic meaning and while I think it’s great that they’re educating us, implying that people are using the word TO BE homophobic is just wrong. they have every right to be angry and use what language they want under their own comment section. telling someone how they should respond and then using their response to make an assumption about their character is also wrong on your end. at the end of the day, none of us know each other and once again, they educated us, everyone knows now, so let’s just move on. and like you said, it’s a public forum, so they’re more than welcome to share their personal opinion just as you are.
