Yes and no, it's good that he's toughing it out for the sake of elevating his career, having to endure and accomodate others though... maybe it's time to say enough, his job is so draining with no acknowledgment, and he's been doing that for years?? Time to quit
I feel it's more his insecurities than him being a pushover. I know people who put up with terrible condition to do what they love, he can't give that up, quitting would also probably mean starting from complete 0.
