I believe that Adam got heavily affected by the inducers and it ended up making him actually unable to guide Eve at all. But seeing how codependent their relationship is (particularly Adam thriving off, and being very adamant about, being useful and all that Eve needs) it mentally broke Adam and the stress of it all made him k*all himself (Eve's "dream" is a memory of the actual event). Eve didn't understand at first and after understanding, crashed out. That crash out consisted of him unlocking a new unknown power (because I'm pretty sure they said he has a lot of powers and sometimes get new ones), literal resurrection, and he "fixed" Adam so he wouldn't be hurt in any way anymore. Including the mental toll of all the events, hence erasing the bulk of his memories with Eve. But Eve was also heavily affected mentally and erased everything from his mind because he couldn't handle it and probably blames himself for "hurting" Adam, resetting himself in the process.
My second part of the theory is, Adam and Eve are going down the exact same road that lead to the first set of event. Why would anyone be more alarmed. Maybe Eve erased way more people's memory than we thought, so people aren't aware of what the real outcome of the first time they were paired. Everyone except Isaiah somehow. Or maybe they're hoping Eve unlocks his memory to possibly regain that resurrection power I theorize he has. Ya'know for experimentation and humanity blah blah blah.
