Understandable. It kinda started losing me around that time as well I think. But I kept on reading, and the story did become better. Why the og hero had all that happen to him, motivations of other heroes, there being another character that the story is actually about, etc.
But I can understand not being into it. It's certainly a more niche one...

Fine....so anyone else SPOILERS AHEAD!!

Okay so there's another hero who got the superpower that he can only be permanently killed by the demon lord. If anyone else kills him he'll get revived at save points he can make. He's tried everything. From dying of old age, from asking for help from the other heroes who were his friends in other timelines, to...well a lot of stuff. But nothing works. So in his view, he's holding all of humanity captive in an unending time loop. He just wants to die, and he wants humanity to be able to move forward again.
So he's the mastermind behind the current "hero" who went berserk. He tried again and again, killing himself thousands of times to find the combination of events to not only make that hero go berserk and turn into a demon lord, but also have another hero turn up that could kill the created demon lord after he himself has died.
Eventually he contacts the hero that has a chance to defeat the created demon lord, to train him to actually be able to do so. And right now the story is at the point where they're supposedly in the "final battle", but it's looking like this first proper attempt might be a failure.
