Hope if the dad starts dating, that he doesn't plan on introducing every gf just so she can have a maternal figure in her life, before they actually get serious.

Yes, but that's the only thing she did in both times. She was an absent parent through and through since Enoch had taken Lilith. Had Enoch not taken her away when he did she would've probably had an opportunity to parent Lilith and there may have been some room for her to be more involved and maybe grow some affection for her.
No. Actually she was waiting for that opportunity to separate ways with Enoch all along so she had never planned to be a loving mother at all.
She never and will never see MC as her child since the one she wanted to be with is the marquis. So even if they stayed stogether(which is never gonna happen actuallly since Selena would run away even if Enoch stayed. )
That's not the only thing that she did though. S I'm gonna be vague but she betrayed them more times in the future and she justified it every time as her being the victim and it's everybody's fault so that's why I haye her. She doesn't take responsibility for her actions and she treats as if she's the only one getting hurt when in reality all of them are victims that's why she's hated.
Had that only be she only did she wouldn't be so hated. I tried justifying her mentality because it's the first time I encountered a mother character like this but what irks me the most is that she continues to dodge accountability for her actions, blame it to others and also continue to side with the evil even though she's a victim of that evil herself. Basically, she only wanted the easy way out to save her own skin and if nothing goes the way she wants she blames Enoch and the MC.
Wait did you say the mom gave them opportunity? I don't think so. They would have lived far away longer if it weren't for the mom actually. If she's out of the picture and Enoch wouldn't have to tell her where he was going they would have lived happily, albeit with the empire in ashes.
The mom gave them the opportunity to live their 7 years of freedom, albeit she's also the one that sold them out. I can't fault her too much since she didn't really have a connection with FL other than being her bio mom. From what I can tell she had her out of obligation, spent little to no time getting to know her nor had the opportunity to even get attached. Whereas she raised her son as much as Enoch raised FL. Ofc she would pick the son over her. Enoch would probably do the same if the shoe was on the other foot. So yea. the situation sucks but I'm just glad the children has someone on each of their corners.
