I kind of get that but it could also be him never used to come face to face with consequences.
Back when Dan left (Epsiode 54?) Jae was confused why Dan left to which coach was both dumbfounded and angry with that question after Jae hurt Danny's feelings. When he arrived home, he assumed Dan was there and that he could just tell him to go back to work and continue their "relationship".
He's very smart and seems to be a good analyst (when he wants to), but he's so used to living consequence-free that this new obstacle makes him look dumb. ╮(￣▽￣)╭

I also think it’s intentional to an extent because jaekyung is like this big shot celebrity that can get with practically anyone. He has no regards for others feelings besides his own. Am I the only one that just hates how Dan keeps giving Jaekyung a taste of his own medicine (at his best) especially when he directly tells him he’s only acting like this because Jaekyung like it that way. Only for Jaekyung to be like "huhh wdym" like oml it really the dumbest thing to watch unfold. Like I get that Jaekyung has to be the one to chase after him but it is such a contradictory to his character as he knew what he did to Dan beforehand. It just makes Jaekyung look dumb now
