I think it's going to tie into that rock he mentioned a few chapters back, the one he thinks might fall on the town, it reminded me of the rock Sisyphus has to push uphill as his punishment
so ive been waiting to see if they would explain why his skin is black but nothing yet. i was thinking maybe tattoos? i know certain groups do that where they tattoo an entire area black. then i was like besides it being the end of the world, what is this about. i remember i had seen a comment saying maybe he was the reincarnation of a death god? so im like let me google "Sisyphus", i had never heard of him in greek mythology. Apparently he escaped death twice & was punished for eternity. Dont see how that relates to the plot of this story. i did read that he "Sisyphus tricked the god of death into trapping himself, making all humans immortal". so maybe thats the plot of this
