anyways the group makes it out of the campus and escape( bear guy, two girls, ML and MC) attempt to search for a military base, as u saw in this latest chapter help from the government seemed to come but probably didn’t arrive in time before the outbreak got too serious, they find a car and attempt to drive away to find the base but idk the ML and MC have some argument and it leads the group to walking out in the shivering cold looking for the base instead.
They eventually find gates where military soldiers are standing but when the group tried to signal towards them they end up getting shot because they can’t tell if they are infected or not (it’s snowing and dark) pretty sure ML protect MC from getting shot and is bleeding to death in his hands, MC thought he was about to die until one of the girls(the short haired blue girl) calls out to the soldiers to stop shooting them and shout that they are survivors.
The government also finds out that MC has that bite mark but no signs of infection so they use him to research a vaccine ( drawing his blood from time to time and doing biopsies), he also reunited with his sister too. ML is in a hospital bed recovering from his gunshot wound and MC is glad that he was able to survive.
On the news it stated that the virus was spread due to a mistake in the process of disposing the virus at the site and somehow spread across the country (idk abt that tbh). Also MC visits ML, confesses to him, wishes him a happy birthday on turning 26, Christmas is over and now it’s New Years soon and also they are both glad that there will be no more regressions anymore, that they can continue to live to see tomorrow together.

Just to add on: they had another guy with them - guy with glasses. Although I’m not sure if he’s alive because the whole time yhe bear guy was carrying him, but when the ML got shot, bear guy was holding on to him, so not sure what happens to the glasses guy.

NO NOT A SPOILER, at least I hope not. I made this comment as satire. Since Stephen King is known to have twisted endings, this storyline would have been perfect for one of those.
They escape the University, MC is able to help develop a cure. ML and MC are happily together, months later when things are finally feeling back to normal they each look up seeing each other across the street on the other side of the walkway from each other when. . . MC gets hit by car and BAM. ML is shocked awake in his dark dorm room having to start all over again.
