In my view Brett isn't a great person and he's made his peace with that, he's indifferent to everyone and everything because he's always had everything and his dad plays a part in him turning out this way, he would never have taken the bullet for Hayden or anyone else for the matter if he didn't have anything to gain coz that's not him, it's illogical, he uses cruel logic that's his personality that's why he doesn't understand love coz it's not rooted in logic, his relationship with Hayden only makes sense coz he sees logic in it, like scratch my back and I scratch yours look at how Hayden says that he gives him stuff he doesn't ask for as a way of tipping the scales, He's so detached.
