I'm not saying this doesn't happen, but I don't think it applies to this particular story. The Emperor and the Prince are definitely deep tan/dark skinned. They are portrayed as capable, protective, and worthy of love and loyalty. The Villain behind trying to murder her and her mom is a very alabaster, almost albino Dutchess. She also experiments on and tortures children. Remember that dungeon full of torture victims? Definitely perpetrated by a white person.

she's a villain and she's white which is just canon in every scenario in history. like white people have always been the villains and this is one thing i still love. also, for the emperor and the prince, are they really tan? i mean they're defined a bit darker than lydia and her daughter but not so dark ig?? idk
desert, full of criminals? tropical vegetations, inhabited by flesh eating monsters? that's....if that's not in reference to arabs and native americans idk what it could be cuz that just sounds so racist and so bad omg
