Misunderstandings/Lack of Communication Strike Again

Misunderstandings/lack of communication can work in stories only if they are not heavily relied upon to drive the narrative forward. This story relies on misunderstandings far too much. I am of the opinion that if your only conflicts come from a series of misunderstandings or just lack of character communication, this is lazy writing. This most recent chapter annoyed me because she could have easily cleared the air by mentioning she was going party with Spencer only because she struck a deal with her annoying brother. It would have immediately solved the brewing conflict and their relationship could advance in a good direction. Instead she doesn't tell him the reason and then proceeds to find him a date. To me, this is incredibly lazy writing to cause more conflict in the story just to prolong the development of their relationship. I did think this concept could be a fun and lighthearted read but it is bogged down by infuriating conflicts that could be resolved in a two minute conversation between the FL and the ML. As they say, the number 1 enemy of all shoujo is just miscommunication. Bruh just TALK to each other.
