It wasn’t acceptable then either. This only happened in the aristocracy, normal people got married in their early to mid twenties to each other then, that was the norm.
yall needs to remember that the setting of this story is liek those 1500s with the nobles and stuff where even a 16 year old is bound to be married to some middle aged man, so the age gap is completely acceptable but yeah in today’s society they’d get some glances here and there
