I don't know... I was impressed that they were going to come out to their parents. I've seen others in which the mangaka killed off the parents or just brushed passed the whole issue.
This impressed me as well, it was a nice twist seeing them going to come clean.
It would've been better if it ended badly and they never talked to each other there again. That ending is the cliché of clichés, which was probably intended.
