Some covers are eye catching so maybe? Idk but usually the one with the most ridiculous covers are just weird stories but I can’t help but click on them
Not completely reliant on them but yes, I can usually tell by cover if it’s romance / love triangle or harem.
Ofc some stories out there are good with generic covers but usually cover does tell a lot about the story

Yeah if cover match with my taste i click and read first chapter , check the story type and also check if art style is okay for me . if it's okay then i read and if it's not okay with story or art then don't read so yeah cover play really big role for me . (=・ω・=)
