I don't think he groomed the kid. He just raised him well within his abilities. But based on the context clues, the kid got kidnapped or was taken back by the government and brainwashed. It's a bit iffy with the age gap but I haven't seen any grooming stuff just yet. Or is it the pheromones?? Hmmmm.... Also dude looks the same after 20 years he's like 40 at least.
