*****SPOILERS*****
At the end of last season I saw someone on twitter theorising that Suyeon called Gyeol Father/Dad during sex and that's why Gyeol called him disgusting and left, so I'm not too surprised with the events of this chapter.
I thought Suyeon's attraction to Gyeol because of his resemblance to his father would be an unconscious thing for Suyeon, so to have Suyeon just straight up say it was what was surprising.
Gyeol is the king of projection. He kept telling Suyeon that no one wants him, that Suyeon has spent all this time waiting for Gyeol and that Suyeon could never replace him. But we see it's the opposite; Suyeon was moving on and had found someone who he loved and who loved him back. Yoonho was never Gyeol's replacement, if anything Gyeol was the one who was the proxy for Suyeon's father. In chapter 38 Gyeol tells Suyeon "You're simply exploiting a child who years for affection" when that actually describes Gyeol best.
Thank God we finally got some more plot development in this chapter. After a slow start to the season it feels like things are actually progressing, I'm hoping the next chapter isn't just more Suyeon abuse.
yup called it!! I knew suyeon only liked gyeol from the get-go cuz he looked like his father (which i realize now is such a fucked up thing to say out loud wow.) Actually no, I don't think it's in that disgusting way, rather as a substitute for what his father failed to provide so not because he *looked like his father* but he's the closest person resembling him that can like him back...still eh but can we please shoot gyeol in between the eyes when we are done? Thank u!
