To be fair he acted like a totally different person whilst around her, on the other hand she still acted like herself just with a different name and not announcing that she's a guide. So basically he got to know her, and she got to know the character he was acting like (who doesn't actually exist). I dunno if I explained that well lol.
Also I can understand her being hesitant, he is known as a huge villain, even though we might know that's not the case, how the heck would she know?
