I think it's because when she saw from the window the distance wasn't much because the mages had cast some kind of spell to confuse the intruders, the mage also said that he had instructed the maids before about how falling from window might result in death, but as she newly possessed this body, she didn't knew that.
I decided to reread this, but like she's just so dumb. Like of course jumping out of a window could kill you? Like I don't think the story should have to mention how gravity works.
