In Ch.1 he says he wasn't born with an ability of his own… so maybe his power is that he can absorb or copy, and then magnify his opponent's power(or something like that?(╯°Д °)╯

Yet with that ability John thinks that he cannot protect people. Must be destructive as well. Smth that causes harm to others in his surrounding when he uses it. Hmm..
