I've read this multiple times over the years, and there's just something about the story that sort of tapers off... like, I'm enjoying it quite a bit in the beginning, but by the end, my feelings have cooled down somewhat. I think it has to do with the shorter guy's maturation. The story feels so wild and passionate and new at the start, and then, as is generally the case, things mellow out over time as our protagonist becomes more level-headed. It reminds me of how I feel when subtext turns into text - I don't hate it, but I preferred when there was tension and confusion and repression. Still good, though! I wouldn't have read it so many times if I didn't like it :)
I mean, it’s realistic. People who haven’t been in a relationship and who don’t have confidence in their body can be very hard to open up. I appreciate the uke’s patience. For once we don’t have people rushing into it.
