There is a reason why Jinjoo is 40 and not 26 or something. This whole story explores power dynamics on a multidimensional level, the age difference, the difference in sexual experience, the difference in life experience, Doyeon who has everything ahead of her, Jinjoo who seems stuck as a dependent housewife, Doyeon who is an orphan and worked so hard to get a scholarship to keep her value in her adopted family while knowing she was picked for a sister who hates her, Jinjoo being groomed by her husband, this flip flops, Jinjoo using Doyeon for sexual satisfaction while also enjoying the hold she has on her, exercising her power over Doyeon in proxy of her husband, both violating each other’s consent in multiple instances etc etc we are literally exploring power dynamics throughout the entire story, you saying that the age difference isn’t significant just doesn’t make sense

Personally I just think that the only time their age gap gets use is when Jinjoo is trying to push away Doyeon. Almost like an easy excuse she uses to push her away so to me doesn’t feel as significant as you make it out to be compared to everything else that’s actually wrong.
If anything Jinjoo doesn’t seem to want a relationship with doyeon because she believes love isnt enough to have a good long lasting relationship like she thought when she very young and got with the groomer. If that makes sense.
