Yeah, ML said that out of frustration too but he used that word as punishment + his negative motives = bad vibes.
MC said he personally thought it was too cruel, assuming he meant what he said was cruel. Whereas ML is going ham because of what was said to his sister (I would’ve probably done the same so it’s ironic..)
I argued with someone over this earlier, and I’d like to apologize cause I sound so focused on the definition of misogyny itself. I agree that it’s ignorant, got caught up in the heat. My thoughts:
—MC used the word "slut" in a moment of frustration, and he quickly felt remorse and reflected on whether he went too far. His background (closeted sexuality, childhood experience of seeing his father with women as the norm, and pressure from women to engage in relationships he wasn’t interested in) may be context to why he reacted the way he did.
He was manipulated (pretending to show interest with hidden motives) and sexually exploited (using sex as punishment/revenge) by the ex’s brother, which is a much bigger moral offense than his use of the word imo. It wasn’t about mutual desire—it was about the brother trying to "humiliate" him. ML is hypocritical, using derogatory words for punishment. His actions reflect what women face on a daily basis, but not everyone acknowledges it. Calling someone a "slut" reinforces gender stereotypes, so if we call out MC for it, the same energy should apply to ML, right?

AS FOR YURI:
—ML was by far the worst person in this situation. He could’ve thrown MC a few smacks or punches, but he had to be extra + use such word. Yuri had a neutral stance, and she was the best character here out of the two asses. She didn’t think the insult was worth major retaliation which I agree with, but she also didn’t excuse it. And MC apologized to her, NO misogynist will cry and apologize, nor feel much remorse. This story, I feel, shows that people use words out of frustration most likely, BUT actions define character more than the derogatory insult does.
I feel that some don’t focus on the bigger picture, a lot is focusing on his insult but not as much towards ML’s actions. Sorry for rambling. Again, just my thoughts and perspective. You’re free to disagree.
