simple biology would explain how traits are inherited . you do not just get your traits from your parents but everyone in the bloodline . her blond hair could be inherited from someone who’s blond on either of her parents ancestors

But that's only if the blondness has been passed on in their genes. You don't just retain all your ancestor's traits. Blond hair is recessive, so both her parents would have had to pass on the blond gene for their child to be blond. Unless some freak mutation happened, I guess

I think its the emperor AND the duke's late wife. The emperor mentioned that he didn't get the thing he really wanted from the war. My theory is that he some how slept with the duke's wife, probably before they met/married and had a baby. And then the FL 'mom' is clearly being set up to be the empress' sister and the great treasure she stole was the FL. Thats just my theory tho could be completely wrong
