Yeah because they act toxic not because they're a man. Obviously people are going to dislike a character that causes unnecessary drama to the main couple and even then if the guy is hot enough there will be people asking for him to be coupled up in a sequel story. Tell me one bl where you've seen the readers ask for a sequel were the girl "third wheel" is the main character, people just start calling the girls name's , I've dropped so many stories because of how much the readers started spouting misogynistic shit and straight up call women "whores" and "sluts"

Also if the guy ex even if he’s hot if he’s extremely toxic I don’t see people praising him. Usually from what I’ve seen people call him names too and say they hate him as well. My bottom line is any ex introduced to the story is meant to make the story have more drama and the readers won’t like them no matter if they’re a girl or a guy.
