I think that this was the most wholesome part of the story. When mc lost feelings for his best friend he realized that he felt disappointed by him only because he expected more and wished to be more than friends with him. The best friend, who never harbored such feelings towards the mc, was just doing what he thought was the best to do for a best friend. He didn’t turn out to be an asshole as you could expect and was genuinely genuine. The mc could only see that when he lost feelings for him and that part felt so human to me
