It's a very common plot point. Dominant alphas can turn ordinary betas into Omegas. There are lots of Mangas,manhwas and manhuas that has this plot. They release their potent pheromones it can somehow trigger a Dormant gene in a beta to manifest into omega
1. They can mutate betas, normal alphas and in rare cases even gammas into omegas.

That's pure speculation from me, but when they decided to release the "Kiss me if you can" manhwa adaption, they probably came to the conclusionthat it was a tactically better choice since Grayson appears several times and Dane as Josh's friend appears, too. At least that's the only explanation I can come up with.
