He tbh wasn't such a doll of a human so
No I feel like the throughout the whole story he was ignored and not really payed attention too. They never really gave him a proper story, except the finance thing. I feel bad, I wish they gave him more of a story, especially with his death. His death was not even about him, it was about Edward and Calipa and the black knight captain.
