spectrum doesn’t excuse behavior - but it helps to understand behaviors and how to work toward changing them or adapting. Ego and entitlement aren’t symptom of being on the spectrum - just a symptom of being a jackass (like Elon). Difficulty understanding social norms and non-verbal cues is part of being on the spectrum. JJ’s also a jackass.
that’s fair. tbh i and others have in more or less kind terms wondered if jaekyung is just, like. developmentally disabled or something because of how oblivious he is written to be, seeming to fundamentally lack both empathy for others and a sense of self-awareness…but that’s the thing, tbh, while i suppose “jaekyung’s on the spectrum” is a plausible reading, it is one that rubs me the wrong way. partially it is again bc sometimes people really do try to excuse shitty behavior using neurodivergency when so many people who are neurodivergent just aren’t like that lmao, but it’s also partially because i don’t think i can buy into the idea that the author went into this deliberately trying to write that kind of character and tactfully explore how they’d develop. not to say that just because the author didn’t intend it it means we can’t read it that way, but—LOL i’m circling.

JJ is an idiot and really can’t read the room. Only understands what is said very literally, only able to process one reason for Kim Dan’s physical reaction, no ability to even figure out his own emotions, and angry most of the time cuz he just doesn’t get it unless someone hits him over the head with it. Sounds like someone on the autism spectrum to me - that or a sociopath. Kim Dan needs to set rock solid boundaries with this chucklehead.
