I don't think its wrong to compare this to misogyny or how the patriarchy is irl, because i firmly believe thats what the author is trying to convey with this story.
Women feel a need to be seen as "masculine" to be taken seriously, for example in a workplace; if a woman wears a skirtsuit people are less likely to take her seriously, but when she wears a suit (which is considered masculine/is normally worn by men) she gets "precieved" more
Just like taka feels himself as weak whenever he's reminded (by his heat) that hes considered "weak" by everyone else just bcuz of his secondary gender.
I believe when he said "do i smell?" I think he meant "do i look intimidating and worth listening to?" ; "do i look like a boss?" Which sadly women go through everyday as they choose their outfits or pick their attitudes

I believe core reason so many men refuse to see women in positions of power is because they are scared that women will treat men how men treat women. I think they see how badly women are treated around the world, and even if they don’t admit it out loud, they subconsciously fear having roles reversed because they themselves don’t go out of their way to fight for their female counterparts, so they assume women wouldn’t be different given the chance.

I agree. All it is is a transfer of power to equal the distribution, but giving up such a power in turn makes you weaker, and that is something that makes people selfish. If anything they want this power to continue, so they breed it into society that tells men that they are incapable of doing menial tasks, and that someone below them should fill the gap. In the end it debilitates both sides, making women too understanding of what it is to be the bigger person, even when that other person is not human by their actions; and making men too insufficient of taking care of themselves or building relationships that benefit both parties. Honestly, Dove Cameron’s Breakfast video shows show just how uncomfortable gender standards are when they are mirrored onto a different form

I completely agree, especially with Taka asking how he smells. It’s such a tidbit that digs into the idea that he’s not comfortable in his own skin due to how others perceive him, which makes him uncertain in how to perceive himself. Taka, if we put him in the real world, would probably be most akin to an intersex person who identifies as a man, but is told their hormone levels and body correlates more to a woman; yet he only found out late that he was intersex. He has to go from being looked at with admiration or contempt to knowing that all those looks are now veiled by the idea that he is now a woman, which to a peabrain means everything is inherently sexual now
I’m sorry if I’m ranting a lot guys I just watched Fried Green Tomatoes and I haven’t written an analysis essay in a while

Yup! These types of men view both genders for their bodies. Women are needed to produce the next generation, and men have taken and maintained the seat of power due to their strength and larger size. If women can do every ‘male’ task and job (which they can), what niche is there for men in society ? Their size and strength mean nothing in the modern era, machines have rapidly taken up thousands of ‘male’ roles in construction and other blue collar work, but ‘female’ roles aren’t being replaced in the same way. The addition of women entering into ‘male’ roles further threatens men who think like this.
They are desperate to keep women down because to them, this is the only way men remain relevant. Ensuring everyone else is dependent on them. So they perpetuate bad systems that continue to disenfranchise and harm women to manufacture this dependency on a man/men in general.
I enjoyed your reply thoroughly and I’m sorry about the green tomato <3
Perhaps this is in appropriate to compare but this just so well correlates with how some men view women. We always have perspective roles, and even if we’re out of them we’re still chained by our body, like that’s the only thing of worth. It’s the government’s job to fight for us, but when have they ever? It’s always the people, and never the public. But I guess as they always say; you can be compared to many things, but never to a woman, because women and all the things they are and like are only weak and pathetic. You want attributes that make you manly; like strength, courage, fortitude, intelligence, and it’s okay for everyone to be this, but one slip up of liking pink and there you’ve disgraced yourself. Grrr I hate misogyny it hurts everyone
