I think major changes comes at the execution of Rigelhof and Edith.
From what I remember:
Spoilers
*Edith was supposed to be in prison after Killian stopped her execution.
*Rize supposedly try to kill edith with a dagger/knife while she was in behind bars, weak and starving in pretense that she will give Edith hot water to drink.
*Killian and others heard the commotion, he went inside to check Edith while Rize tried to act like the victim, again but Killian saw thru her act.
*The princess wasn't supposed to be in the execution. It was supposedly done in Rudwig estate.
*Rize was sent to monastery while Cliff seems to have lost his will to live.
*Edith and Killian went to Raizen to built their own lives. Edith told Killian about the reincarnation and such in the Raizen territory.
*They had children. Cliff married another woman.
*I think when Edith and Killian visited the Rudwig, on the way they met a boy who was supposedly the reason why Rize went in an auction, buy off a slave resembling the boy and made it look like the long lost son of a relative? but got caught when Edith showed up with the real son. (I'm not really sure about this).

I forgot that before Rize was sent to monastery, she tried being Edith, clothes and all, throws outrageous parties draining the budget of the estate, in a nutshell, she became unhinged to the point that even Cliff can't handle her anymore, the man is EXHAUSTED. She tried to get back her stance (which is being love and coddled by everyone) but always failed miserably.
Can someone tell me what happened in the novel? what did they change?
