You said it all perfectly, I'm currently on that chapter and getting annoyed cause his rationale doesn't make sense.
He literally killed the Huang family son, got warned by the military guy about their retaliation yet still went home willy-nilly because he thought they wouldn't do anything due to their 'social standing'?
Then he went ahead and refused the military's offer even though he has no money, backing or abilities in the real world yet for such a stupid reason.
i know!!! like its the protagonist HALO yes but damn atleast don’t be stupid. The MC here really is hard to like. i don’t mind if he atleast make a few transactional relationship with the military like give his family some safety and he’ll atleast be able to help them once when they needed it but nooo he outrightly denied the offer when he obviously could demand something from them in turn… ahhh i dropped this but i can still remember the feeling when i read my comment here hahahaha
Exactly! He could have even made a contract to work with them just for a couple years then go independent or build his own guild or something. But he just straight up said no and because of the protagonist halo the military stills ends up backing him in the form of a 'bet'. The plot armour was getting too thick so I had to drop it
what we can see here is because he’s the protagonist and cause of his halo everything will fall into his lap just like that. The naivety of this Protag is just too gary stu most chinese manhua and novels with this setting tend to go over the top with their halo so yeah

Villains were there just for the sake of being villains. the Huang family were brain dead if I must say. They lack the brains to think. MC has the protagonist halo i get that but like why the hell do you think that the family you trampled on will be nice to you once you meet again? Here I thought the boy was atleast jaded by this worlds setting with a sister and older brother who works hard for him to be able to afford his now powers. He got bullied a couple of times and expect the person who bullied him and try to kill him became a good person over night when MC killed him once infront of the people??? like huhhhhh WHAT??? Another thing is that does he think these people whos pride and ego got trampled on will let his family go when they were the easier target? Haha where is the sense of confidence from mc coming from???MCs family got the protection of the military at the very least he could help them a little in time of need but MC here have to continue to compare himself to the drunkard awakener continuously as his rationale everytime the Military ask him to join their forces, Im not saying he should accept them what Im saying is he should at least change his rationale whenever he thought of the reason why he shouldn’t, he knows that he’s different from that person like bro try at the very least you should’ve reason to yourself that being in the military won’t do you good instead of comparing yourself to the other unique awakener who got thrown out of the military once they were done with him. its so weird i got irritated by this story too much…. I guess i expected too much from this one since the first few chapters where actually okay but i guess not….
