Because it’s neither love or like, it’s obsession. Kind of like with stalkers, don’t seek reason from them, they live in a made up fantasy they created for themselves. It doesn’t actually matter if the said person hates them, kind of like parasocial relationships with celebs.

To add another viewpoint to this. What she loves may not be him, just the status as Duchess and wealth and power that comes with that. As well as having a spouse who's as desirable as he is to flaunt in high society.
She honestly seems the type to want the position of his wife more than the actual man, so who cares if he hates her as long as she's the Duchess right?
I truly do not understand why characters basically use date rape drugs on others in stories like these, if the person didn’t want you when they were sober what makes you think they’ll fall in love with you/want you when they’re drugged up?
