Probably to look better as costume rather that wearable clothes, the buttons probably for decoration and not fully going down just at the top
hahaha ikr, there wasn't even any indication that there was a zipper. but im prob gonna go with the logic that the costume was initially designed for a quick change, hence the zipper.
Why does the button up shirt costume unzip from the back????
