By stopping his tape, he's no longer a player but an NPC. He won't have any recollection whenever the game resets after each ending. That's his way of escaping. :)
Yes... According to Yongtaek., Bada wasn't originally a part of the game. We'll find out how he was able to enter hopefully next chapter...
Was he just an NPC or even physically not part of the game? To me it sounded like he was just an NPC but I’m not quite sure ;;
There was a part in the previous chapter when Yongtaek said "Even before you were trapped in the game".
We can imagine several situations through this statement. It's possible that Bada was an NPC turned to player or an entire new character in this game. Some games are like that, right? They introduce new players every season or something... :)
I think it's more like this:
There's a game with a bunch of characters. You decide to play by yourself, taking control of one of those characters, for instance Bada. All the other characters are still around following their scripted roles (doing the same thing, saying the same lines, etc) so only you are able to change the outcome of the game because you have free will. You can do things the others, NPCS, can't. Then someone else joins the game and takes control of one of the other characters, let's say Yong-Taek. You guys play together for awhile but then the guy has to get off the game for whatever reason (to go to work or school or to eat dinner), so now Yong-Taek will return to doing what he would normally do if no one was playing him. In this case, instead of helping Bada explore and complete puzzles, he goes back to telling really bad jokes and usually dying first or second. This is essentially what the 'players' are doing - having their own consciousness, retaining their memories of all that's happened during the game, and being able to actively help win the game.
i’ve been trying to keep up but i think my brain is a little fried, so can someone explain something to me—yongtaek asked bada to stop his tape because he didn’t want to play anymore, correct? but, how does that work exactly since no one can “escape” the game, right? like, that’s the whole point of the plot that bada’s trying to figure out how to beat the game and escape. so, how does the whole stopping the tapes thing work in yongtaek’s case with him not wanting to play anymore. i just feel like i need a bit more clarity on that because i can’t fully understand that bit. apart from that, i’m also a little confused about how the others have been playing longer than bada, so would that mean bada was not in the game at all previously and he was somehow added into it? because it looks like he was dragged into the game at some random point and doha might be behind it.
