typical korean gooner fantasy

all the main characters are insanely attractive and fit despite being in hs, they all know how to fight like theyve been training for 20 years, despite mc being in deep depression from her boss' death it looks like she just stepped out a fashion shoot... feels like the author never learned to be loved despite their external flaws, so she tried to "protect" all her characters from her fate, but ended up making such a stupid shallow manwha. typical fantasy of a citizen of the shallow south korean society. i cant wait till people there learn to stop pandering to this and instead criticize it. lookism was perfect, it tackled all the horrible double standards, societal issues, etc, but now its catering to what it once criticized since the author needs money ig. how ironic

I mean tastes vary and i understand your points but lookism and this are completely different genres, everyone is here for the romance even if it may be cringe and unrealistic

Makes sense, I too am only reading for the romance no matter how shallow it can feel lol. I got off tracked when I brought up lookism, I understand that this isn't a criticism on society whatsoever like lookism was originally. It just disappoints me when I see such blatant, shitty plot points based on extremely illogical character traits shoved into my face, this isn't the only manwha that does it, but ig I just had to rant about it on some manwhas comment section. I hate how all these issues will never stop being pandered to, because at the end of the day, humans are still victims to unconsciously gravitating towards what we find attractive, because our monkey parted brains subconsciously tell us that good looks=good genetics=higher survival rate. There's really no fix to it unless we evolve in a way that is completely harmful to ourselves and survival of the fittest, but South Korea/east Asia in general takes these things to the extreme. At least in America I feel that I can be ugly and yet accepted by society in some other show of my usefulness, but these manwhas really give me the idea that you can only be accepted for your skills after youre accepted for your looks first.
