I love this

At first I was hesitant to read it since most of this historic drama— regardless being BL, Yuri, or straight— it always fall in the same deep hole that ruins the plot (I'm talking about toxic relationship, the unnecessary rape, and assaults). But this one is truly different, the plot and the flow of the story is not crooked and dragged; the author carefully threaded this story despite having a short chapters it never feel incomplete or an information was suddenly forgotten.

Aside from that, the couples' relationship did not disappointment. He really showed that you don't have to add unnecessary characteristics for a character to be deemed as unique or make the plot much interesting. Suwoo, being a misunderstood Emperor and gentleman husband to Sooyoung is enougj to pique some interest for the audience, like; "what are his actions that made him misunderstood?" "are there any underlying circumstances that made hm look so hateful from the eyes of others?, etc.

And of course Soyoung's character, at first I didn't really think much of him aside from being Sowoo's future Empress who truly loves his Emperor, he has a good heart and kind of naive. But the author surprises me with Soyoung's own side story, that he is not just a normal naive scholar but also has his own pain in the past.

Overall this story is one of a fresh story for me, since most of the story I read there's always devious(immoral acts) actions from one of the characters, yet this one showed none of it. I hope to see more of this kind of dynamics. (๑•ㅂ•)و✧
