He absolutely could have and should have changed the rules. Tradition is simply being peer pressured by people rotting in a grave or an urn full of ashes. Those people aren’t alive rn so they have no right dictating how thing should be run NOW. The youngest as the ruler may have worked back then but it doesn’t now. I hope the hatchling changes the rules.
I’m actually of the opinion that the king was in the wrong. He’s free to love whoever he wants but fathering another kid KNOWING that his youngest child has lived their whole life sacrificing the one thing their people were rightfully entitled to (freedom) is so selfish and cruel. The fact they never used protection and he never got snipped after his youngest with the Queen is so stupid. I find their whole culture stupid because this is exactly why it’s typically the eldest that becomes heir since no one can argue with or change who the oldest is. Two oldest two children get lessons in royal etiquette and leading and that’s that. Now I’m not for stabbing a child still in the womb but I have no issues with the Queen stabbing the attendant who found out they were pregnant and didn’t immediately abort. Queens have killed mistresses for less. She was understanding of their love and that was more than they deserved considering how many children the king and queen had and you can see the Queen did love the king. Everyone ended up a victim to the kings selfishness.
