Yea but like they were alive and starved until the one that lasted the longest (and accumulated the most wrath as you said) became the evil spirit
The method of making cursed object is really interesting here because I've seen similar methods used in east Asian mythology n medical folklore. They do a similar thing used for making poisons by putting all sorts of venomous and extremely poisonous insects/animals in a jar and the one that emerges our alive is used to make assassination related venom objects. Here they did it with children spirits to harvest the most tortured and wrathful one
